She came out of the water first, she came off the bike first and she crossed the finish line first: Lisa Tertsch won today’s WTCS Weihai in impressive fashion. The top German athlete beat Beth Potter and Georgia Taylor-Brown, among others, thanks to a lightning-fast final ten kilometers.
The course in Weihai was particularly tough, especially since the bike course included eight climbs of 80 altimeters and athletes covered a total of over 700 altimeters. It made for an interesting dynamic in both the men’s and women’s races and at the same time Tertsch proved to digest all those altimeters just fine.
That was evident when Tertsch finished a closing ten kilometers in 33:24 minutes. With that, she won the WTCS Weihai in an overall time of 2:04:42 and stayed ahead of an always strong running Beth Potter, who finished after 2:04:59. The bronze was for Georgia Taylor-Brown, who finished third in 2:05:40.
