The Valencia 10k is known as one of the fastest, if not the fastest running race in the world and this weekend it was again reflected in the fast times run in the Spanish city. The European record was smashed by Andreas Almgren, seven national records were broken and Alex Yee proved to be in good shape for the triathlon season that is about to begin.

It will not be long before the first World Triathlon races take place again – and Yee will also run the London Marathon in April – so he is already working hard to get in the right shape. This is apparently going well for the British triathlete and Olympic Champion, because with a time of 28:07 minutes he was only sixteen seconds above his own record (27:51) he noted on track. Yee finished 29th in Valencia.

Significantly faster still was Andreas Almgren: the Swede runner recorded 26:53, taking eleven seconds off the European Record. That record had stood since last year, when Etienne Daguinos then ran 27:04 minutes in Lille, France.
