Where not so long ago it was thought that Ironman might have a very difficult time with competitor PTO and the fact that the best athletes would opt en masse for the T100 series, it now appears that is not happening as much as thought in 2025. In recent years the PTO has been struggling anyway to get enough contracted athletes at the start of its races and after this season Sam Laidlow already indicated he would leave the T100 for what it is and just focus on the races he likes, including the Ironman World Championships, Magnus Ditlev is doing exactly the same.

“I have decided to narrow my focus and chase my biggest motivation in the sport, which is becoming Ironman World Champion. For me this means racing only the IM Pro Series in 2025,” Ditlev said on socials. “This gives me a lot of time, freedom and flexibility to work on some of my weaknesses throughout the year and also the ability to plan the season perfectly around the IM World Championships. I have been on the podium in the past two editions of this race: third in 2023 and second in 2024. My goal is to continue that upward trajectory and climb the top spot of the podium in 2025.”
