Just after Christmas Hayden Wilde received a wildcard contract for the T100-series in 2025 and he’s taking that very serious. Wilde celebrated the holidays with his Belgian girlfriend Hanne de Vet in Wuustwezel, Belgium, and during a training session he immediately biked past the nearby parental home of marten van Riel, in Loenhout, Belgium. “The mindgames start now.”
It is of course meant as a joke and it’s very funny, but at the same time it is also clear that Wilde does have his sights set on the T100 title, which Van Riel won in 2024. Wilde will have to make his trainings a little longer if he wants to actually confront Van Riel though, because Van Riel lives and trains in Girona, Spain. No doubt Wilde won’t mind to do so, as he recently announced that he will shift focus to longer distances over the next two years.
