None other than Alex Yee will make his marathon debut in three weeks – in London, of course – and the British Olympic triathlon champion is now taking you through his preparations in a four-part documentary. The first episode of the documentary “The London Detour” is now online and you can watch it below.
In recent weeks we have yet to see Yee in action at any triathlon and there was one reason for that: he is using this post-Olympic year to focus on something he also wants to do, which is to run a marathon. On April 27 Yee will race the London Marathon, an event Yee has long dreamed of to take part in. According to the Briton, the race never fit into his schedule – no wonder, either – but this year the focus is a bit more on running and so an undoubtedly leaden effort is anticipated. Yee is known within the triathlon world as a particularly fast runner, regularly deciding races during the final leg.
By his own admission, Yee will be venturing into territory ‘unknown to him’ during the marathon, which, he tells himself, definitely takes risks. “But I love not knowing what’s going to happen. That’s what gets me out of bed right now and keeps me motivated.”
