The first Olympic medals to be awarded at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles will go to the female triathletes. On Saturday, July 15, 2028, just one day after the Opening Ceremony, the women’s individual triathlon will kick off the medal events for the Games.

This means that bright and early following the grand spectacle of the Opening Ceremony on Friday, July 14, the Olympic spotlight will shift immediately to triathlon – with the women leading the charge. The men’s individual race will follow the next day, on Sunday, July 16.

The competition schedule, revealed earlier this week, places triathlon front and center, underscoring its growing prominence within the Olympic movement and offering a historic moment as the world’s top female triathletes battle for the very first medals of LA 2028.
