It’s the kind of moment triathlon fans live for. During Ironman Leeds, one Age Group athlete stole the show by going full throttle – not to gain a competitive edge, but to overtake none other than winner Sam Laidlow, who was a full lap ahead of course.
The reason? To get on camera.
Charging forward with all the energy he could muster, the Age Group athlete pulls up alongside Laidlow and cheekily calls out ‘Please share that!’ – a moment of comic brilliance that quickly lit up social media. Knowing he couldn’t keep the pace, he soon dropped back, but not before Laidlow – who would go on to win the race – offered a quick high-five in appreciation of the spirit and humor.
