The biggest triathlon race in The Netherlands is filling up quickly: Challenge Almere-Amsterdam has already sold sixty percent of its entries for the 2026 edition. The organization announced the news earlier today.
Each year, around four thousand triathletes toe the line in Almere, with the Long Distance once again serving as the marquee event. As in previous years, the 3.8 km swim, 180 km bike, and 42.2 km run will host both the European and Dutch Championships. In addition to the Long Distance, the race weekend traditionally features a very popular Middle Distance, Aquathlon, Junior Challenge, Kids Run, and various other side events.
Next year’s race – held as always during the second weekend of September – will also mark a special milestone: Challenge Almere-Amsterdam’s 45th anniversary. With 45 years of triathlon history, the event is not only the oldest Long Distance triathlon in Europe but also the second-oldest triathlon in the world, surpassed only by Kona.
Registration for Challenge Almere-Amsterdam is still open for now via challenge-almere.com.
