For years, Vincent Luis dominated the world of short-course racing. His foray into long-distance triathlon has been much shorter in comparison – and, as it turns out, will not last much longer either. The French star has announced that he hopes to deliver one final season at full strength before retiring at the end of next year.

Luis, who earned Olympic bronze in the Mixed Team Relay at the Tokyo Games in 2020, made the decision earlier this season to step away from WTCS racing altogether, committing fully to long-distance competition. He focused primarily on the T100 series while also producing a strong fourth-place finish at Challenge Roth.

Now 36, Luis admits that the accumulation of injuries has become impossible to ignore. The physical toll has pushed him toward a clear decision: give everything he has left for one more year, then close out an extraordinary career on his own terms.
