Norway’s Jens Kristoffer Dyrdahl captured the men’s title at the Winter Duathlon World Championships in dramatic fashion on Friday, while Russia’s Daria Rogozina successfully defended her world crown in the women’s race.
The Winter Duathlon format combines cross-country skiing and running in a fast, high-intensity contest, producing tight finishes and tactical battles throughout.
In the men’s race, the outcome could hardly have been closer. Dyrdahl crossed the line in 35:35, with Russia’s Dmitrii Kondrashov credited with the exact same finishing time. After review, it was Dyrdahl who was awarded the victory, claiming the world title by the narrowest of margins. Racing on home snow, Italy’s Franco Pesavento completed the podium in 36:04.
In the women’s event, Rogozina once again proved untouchable. The Russian star stopped the clock at 41:56 to secure back-to-back world titles. Her compatriot Alina Liagaeva finished second in 42:32, while Italy’s Axelle Vicari claimed third place in 43:26.
