Racing in the very heart of New York City will become a reality this autumn. On October 10, athletes will line up for the first-ever Big Apple Triathlon, a brand-new event that takes competitors along the Hudson River and straight through Central Park – right in the middle of The Big Apple.

The race, which was recently announced, offers multiple formats to appeal to a wide range of athletes. Participants can choose between Sprint Distance and Olympic Distance, while relay teams are also welcome. In addition, an Aquathlon will feature on the program.

While the exact number of available slots has yet to be confirmed, organizers are currently in discussions with the city of New York. At this stage, expectations are set at between 2,500 and 4,000 athletes. Registration is already open, and the event is officially sanctioned through a partnership with USA Triathlon (USAT).

A large portion of the course will run alongside the iconic Hudson River, before guiding athletes into Central Park, where the finish line will be located. Racing through the streets and green heart of New York City makes this event truly unique on the global triathlon calendar.
