On Feb. 5, 2023 the first edition of Ironman 70.3 Tasmania will take place in and around the heart of Hobart; the capital of the Australian Island of Tasmania. Now, athletes will finally know what they are getting themselves into, as the course was revealed today.

The 1900-meter swim will take place in the Derwent River. Athletes will start their race by diving off the Brooke Street Pier, a large floating pontoon. With the course running parallel to Princess Warf No. 1 (PW1) spectators can get really close to the athletes.

The 90K bike course is one of the toughest out in the Ironman 70.3 Oceania circuit, as it has high elevation rates. It will offer scenic views along the way, though. Athletes will cross the historic port of Hobart before they head north to Queens Domain and Cornelian Bay, also crossing Latuna, Derwent Park and Goodwood. From there on, athletes will turn left to complete a 34K loop, which they will ride two times. Participants cross the River Derwent over the Bowen Bridge and ride along the East Derwent Highway. Also, they will climb up the Otago Hill four times within these two laps. After this part, the course will lead back to Latuna, Goodwood and Cornelian Bay, before athletes return to T2.

The two-lap run course in Hobart will be flat and fast. Athletes will finish on the PW1 forecourt.
