America’s Grace Alexander just got to climb to the highest podium spot at Ironman 70.3 Augusta. She shared the podium with Lottie Lucas (UAE) and Sarah Bishop (USA), who took second and third respectively.
Already after the swim, Alexander was leading the race. There were still two athletes in her feet, though: Lucas and Emily Tato (USA). On the bike, it turned out to be America’s Dede Griesbauer who had the strongest leg that day, as she overtook Alexander and led the race during that discipline. Alexander ended up reaching T2 2:30 minute later, together with Lucas, who was still right there with her.
During the run part, Alexander soon caught up with Griesbauer, just like Lucas and Tato ended up doing. Running 1:24:42 hour, Alexander was first to cross the line. Lucas finished 1:04 minute later to take second, while Bishop settled for third (+4:04).
