Just two weeks before the T100 Grand Final in Dubai, where Ashleigh Gentle is logically considered one of the biggest favorites, the Australian athlete has won the prestigious Noosa Triathlon on home soil. That is already a great achievement on its own, but for Gentle it is already the eleventh time she has managed to win the race. In the men’s event, the win went to Brayden Mercer.
Gentle won the Olympic distance race thanks to a swim time of 19:09, a bike time of 58:11 and a run time of 35:07. She ended with an overall time of 1:55:56 and kept her ahead of Richelle Hill who finished second in 1:56:58. The bronze was for Nathalie van Coevorden, who finished in 1:58:49.
The men’s race was also exciting; Mercer won in a time of 1:43:20, deciding the race thanks to a rock-solid run. He ended up staying 38 seconds ahead of Tayler Reid, who thus came in second. The bronze was for Luke Willian and he too finished close to the fastest men with a final time of 1:44:15.
