He flirted several times with a move to the world of pro cycling and especially when his coach Olav Alexander Bu became head coach of the Uno-X Mobility pro cycling team, all lights were on green for Kristian Blummenfelt to make the switch to cycling as well. Yet that’s not going to happen, the Norwegian triathlete now tells in the Rich Roll podcast.
Perhaps most notable is the fact that Blummenfelt has been thinking about making a permanent switch to cycling, and in doing so he would disappear completely from the sport of triathlon, as opposed to combining the two sports, as most fans thought. In fact, the switch to pro cycling was already ninety percent certain, Blummenfelt says, but his allegedly disappointing finish at the Paris Olympics (where he finished 12th in the race won by Alex Yee, ed.) changed that. “My result in Paris didn’t help and I only wanted to leave triathlon with a top performance. Whether I would like to switch to pro cycling at a later moment? No, it was actually a ‘now or never’ moment,” Blummenfelt said.
