Several ultrarunners are about to embark on an attempt to improve the world record for the 100 kilometer run. This event is organized by Hoka and is to celebrate the launch of their new Carbon X2 shoe. Running will take place in two locations: Phoenix, Arizona, USA and Tokyo, Japan.
For both the men and women the world record is held by Japanese athletes. For the men, Nao Kazami holds the 100 km record with his time of 6:09:14 (2018, ed.) and for the women Tomoe Abe who set the world record of 6:33:11 in 2000.
