Just like in the women’s race earlier today, the men’s race at Europe Triathlon Cup Olsztyn was good for an exciting battle. Norway’s Vetle Bergsvik Thorn turned out to be the strongest man out there as he took the win, finishing the sprint-distance event in 54:06. France’s Antoine Duval finished only one second behind him, while Switzerland’s Simon Westermann claimed the last podium spot.

With a gap of eight seconds behind the fastest swimmer – Italy’s Alessio Crociani – Bergsvik Thorn started his day as a chaser. Once in the saddle he quickly moved up to the front of the race. In T2 it was Bergsvik Thorn who was in the lead, but on the run he found himself in a tough battle with Duval, who racked his bike a few seconds later. Bergsvik Thorn completed the 5 km run in 15:15 – only one second slower than Duval – before he could celebrate his victory.
