After Jan Frodeno asked his fans to come up with some fitness challenges last week, Canadian Lionel Sanders offered to pay the three-time Kona champs expenses if he would come over and race him at Ironman Coeur d’Alene next week. Today Frodeno followed up on his post from last week – turns out a lot of fans are keen to see him race against Sanders – in fact, over 90 percent of the responses to his post suggested that.
“You guys have helped me a lot, actually, trying to find some goals. Over 90 per cent of people think I should go head to head with Lionel,” Frodeno said in an Instagram post today. “What do you reckon, Lionel? Thanks for your generous offer of flying me in … after my last visa issues I’m not to sure I’m keen on coming to the US. Besides, I always come to race you. Why don’t you come race me? Seriously? Let’s play in my backyard. Virtual. I don’t know … what do you reckon?”
According to the text of Frodeno’s post: “Me Vs @lsanderstri will happen. It’s now just a matter of what, when and where.”
We’re not the only ones looking forward to the upcoming race – even South African short-course star Richard Murray is looking forward to it:
“Yes sir … love it,” Murray commented on Frodeno’s post. “@lsanderstri , the man has spoken.”
