After 2021, everyone had hope that the influence of COVID-19 on the race calendar would decrease, however, with the pandemic still hitting hard in many countries in the world, the first few events of 2022 have been cancelled. Last week Challenge Wanaka announced to cancel their race, and this week it’s Powerman Mallorca that shares the bad news. The race, that was supposed to be held on Mar. 26, 2022, is cancelled due to an insufficient amount of participants, which seems to be a result of the pandemic according to the organization.

“The organization of Powerman Mallorca is forced to cancel the celebration of its fifth edition due to the insufficient number of registered, motivated in large part by the difficulty that international duathletes find to be able to participate in a race with the current situation of the Coronavirus pandemic and the outlook for the coming weeks/months. Without a minimum number of participants and the lack of resources that this situation entails to be able to hold the event with guarantees, the best option is not to hold the race in March of this year. All registered athletes will receive a full refund of the registration”, the organization stated in a press release.
