It was a big disappointment for Gustav Iden when he had to withdraw from the World Championships Ironman St. George two weeks ago due to illness, but the Norwegian immediately went in search of a worthy alternative. He has now found that alternative; last-minute he announces his participation in Challenge Family The Championship.
“I’m very excited to be back racing here at the amazing venue at the x-bionic sphere. After some sickness in the last few weeks, I am very grateful Challenge Family was able to give me this oppotunity on such short notice. I don’t expect to be on my all-time high, but still really looking forward to being on the start line for my season opener.”
In the men’s race, no less than fifty professional athletes will start in the battle for $100,000. Iden will encounter Frederic Funk, Kyle Smith, Collin Chartier, Miki Taagholt and Pieter Heemeryck, among others. Racing in the women’s field include Lucy Buckingham, Emma Pallant-Browne, Amelia Watkinson, Fenella Langridge, Daniela Bleymehl, Sara Perez Sala and Ashleigh Gentle.
Challenge Family The Championship will take place May 22 with a free-to-air broadcast brought to you by Challenge Family and Triathlon Today. Coverage starts at 8:45am local time with the male pro start at 9:00am and female pro start at 9:10am.
