That Challenge Wanaka is one of the most beautiful races in the world – at least based on the scenery – is confirmed by all the participants who have raced there in recent years. Not for nothing Sebastian Kienle named the race a ‘bucket list race’ he definitely wanted to do once in his life as a pro athlete. Last Friday was the day when, in his farewell year as a professional athlete, he appeared at the start of Challenge Wanaka and came in third, even though he wasn’t completely well.
