Under particularly wet conditions, Norway’s Solveig Lovseth has just won the triathlon at the European Games. The differences in the battle for podium were small, but thanks to a good run Lovseth took the title in the end.

After the swim and bike, a decent lead group had formed and then another ten-kilometer run followed: the race was over the Olympic Distance. With a total time of 1:57:05, Lovseth proved to be the best athlete of the day, as she took the title, staying ahead of Austrian Julia Hauser (1:57:15) and Belgian Jolien Vermeylen (1:57:17).

The European Games is a continental multi-sport event in the Olympic tradition contested by athletes from European nations and several transcontinental countries. The Games were envisioned and are governed by the European Olympic Committees (EOC), which announced their launch at its 41st General Assembly in Rome, on 8 December 2012.
