That Chris Nikic is capable of extraordinary things was already known: the American athlete became the first person with Down syndrome to reach the finish line of a Long Distance triathlon a few years ago and after that he was also the first person with Down syndrome to finish the Ironman World Championships at Kona. Meanwhile, Nikic may note a new milestone: he is the first person with Down syndrome to complete the Marathon Majors.
When you complete the Marathon Majors, you have participated in and crossed the finish line of the six biggest marathons in the world: Tokyo, Boston, Berlin, Chicago, New York and London. The latter Nikic accomplished yesterday in a time of 6:01. Even more impressive: Nikic participated last week in the Boston Marathon and has run no less than five marathons in the past 12 weeks. “Learned some things last three months. Time to set even bigger goals. For now going out to celebrate.”
