Laura Philipp is strong. Very strong even. Laura Philipp is so strong that she made up a three-minute deficit to Jessica Learmonth on the bike and ended up running to a huge lead to win the race. The top German athlete just won Ironman 70.3 Kraichgau.

Pretty soon it became clear that the biggest battle in the race was between Philipp and Learmonth. It was Learmonth who swam lightning fast and immediately grabbed a lead of almost three minutes over Philipp, who came out of the water just inside the top ten. Still, there was no reason for Philipp to panic, as she went so fast on the bike that she kept getting closer and closer, rejoining the British leader at the time even before T2. Together they eventually rode to the transition area.

Whoever still hoped for an exciting denouement could quickly forget about that. Philipp was so strong that she immediately and quickly ran to a nice lead as well. Without looking back, she eventually ran to a beautiful victory.

Philipp won the race in 4:13:12, Learmonth was second in 4:19:28 and Laura Jansen was third in 4:23:44.
