We already knew Alex Yee could run – and we’ve seen it time and again on the triathlon circuit – but the British Olympic Triathlon Champion continues to push his limits. Over the weekend, Yee clocked a remarkable 1:01:29 at the Valencia Half Marathon, averaging an incredible 2:55 per kilometer pace.
This season, Yee has shifted his focus slightly toward pure running, competing less frequently in triathlon events. Earlier this year, he made his marathon debut at the London Marathon, impressing with a stellar 2:11:08 finish. His latest half marathon result only adds to the growing buzz surrounding his running potential – with some even speculating whether he could one day qualify for the Olympic marathon in Los Angeles.
Still, it seems unlikely that Yee will trade his tri-suit for good. Reports suggest that from next season onward, he plans to return his focus primarily to triathlon. Before that, however, Yee will close out his running season in style – tackling the Valencia Marathon in early December.
