If the triathlon world – and more broadly the running world – was already impressed back in April when Alex Yee clocked a 2:11:08 at the London Marathon, then we can undoubtedly brace ourselves next week for an ‘Alex Yee 2.0’. The Olympic Triathlon Champion has done everything he can in recent weeks to peak at the Valencia Marathon (December 7), and the signs are, to put it mildly, good.
The “race predictor” on Yee’s watch, which makes predictions based on training sessions and other data, currently estimates a time of – hold on tight so you don’t fall over in shock – 2:05:46. That prediction appears to be quite realistic, judging by the estimated time for a half marathon: 1:01:01. A few weeks ago, during the Valencia Half Marathon – as preparation for the full distance he’ll run next week – Yee ran a 1:01:29.
Yee shared on his socials that ‘maranoia’ hits hard. Still, he says he’s very much looking forward to the race. Expectations are that from next year onwards, Yee will again focus more on triathlon.
