Emma Pallant-Browne was on fire at Ironman 70.3 Zell am See. After finishing second at the World Triathlon Long Distance Championship in Samorin last week, she took the win today at Ironman 70.3 Zell am See. Australia’s Grace Thek finished in second place (+1:23) and Italy’s Giorgia Priarone rounded the podium (+3:17).

Swimming 25:24 minutes, New Zealand’s Rebecca Clarke paved the way to T1. Thek was out of the water in second position (+0:54) and Pallant-Browne in third place (+0:57). On the bike, Pallant-Browne quickly rode to the front, overtaking Clarke. 30K into the race, Clarke got back to Pallant-Browne, though, jut like Thek did.

Just before the climb a little group of three with Pallant-Browne, Thek and Clarke had taken shape. After the downhill part also Britain’s Laura Addie joined that lead group. With 60 km of cycling done, Thek had to let go off the group, while Austria’s Lisa-Maria Dornauwer, on the other hand, had managed to bridged the gap and joined the front group. That left a lead group of four.

Just before T2, Dutch Els Visser reached that group too, but Pallant-Browne didn’t plan to go onto the bike course with this relatively big bike group all together. The British athlete took off on her own and created a little buffer of 15 seconds on Clarke before racking her bike.

On the run, Pallant-Browne was totally untouchable. Running 1:19:12 hour, Pallant-Browne claimed the victory, outrunning Thek and Priarone, who took second and third respectively.
