With the two World Championships Ironman (Kona and St. George, ed.) behind us, quite a few athletes have risen or fallen within the PTO World Ranking. Kristian Blummenfelt and Anne Haug are still in first position.
In the women’s ranking, there are far more changes than among the men; there it is especially Ben Kanute who – thanks to his second place in St. George – makes a leap upwards and gains twelve places. An even bigger jump is made by Mika Noodt; he finished fourth in St. George, thus moving up 117 places and is now ranked 25th. According to many athletes, changes like that are a major problem for the PTO World Ranking; Sarah Crowley, for example, openly wonders why her ninth-place finish at the World Championship 70.3 earns more points than her seventh-place finish at Kona.
In the women’s ranking, Taylor Knibb gains a whopping 44 places after winning the World Championship Ironman 70.3. She is now fourth in the PTO World Ranking. Anne Haug, Daniela Ryf and Ashleigh Gentle are still ahead of her.
