A very nice athlete is joining at The Championship next week, as American Chris Nikic is coming to Slovakia to compete in the Special Olympics European Triathlon Open Competition. Nikic became world famous three years ago when he became the first person with Down syndrome to complete a Long Distance triathlon.
Since then, Nikic’s star has been rising and the American para-athlete not only races all over the world – he completed the Ironman World Championship at Kona, for example – but also lectures at many places. In this way, he inspires thousands, maybe even more people and makes them realize that almost anything is possible.
Nikic, of course, is not the only athlete competing in the Special Olympics European Triathlon Open Competition next week. A total of 33 athletes will start from 11 different countries.
