It was particularly exciting in Olsztyn, as the men’s race of the Europe Triathlon Cup there was won by Connor Bentley, who had to sprint for his victory. In the women’s race, the win went to Selina Klamt: she had more margin and won the race convincingly. Both Bentley and Klamt already won the Europe Triathlon Cup in Caorle two weeks ago as well.
In the men’s race, the running part became incredibly exciting: after 750 meters of swimming and 20 kilometers of cycling, the decision fell during the closing run. That only happened in the very last meters, as the top seven finished within just six seconds of each other. Bentley thus won the race in 52:48 and a second later Louis Vitiello was second. Another second later Simon Henseleit finished third and then, one second later each time, Maxime Hueber-Moosbrugger, Nathan Grayel, Antoine Duval and Maxime Flury followed in fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh respectively.
In the women’s race also a leading group emerged during the swim and bike and so there the closing run brought the decision as well. Selina Klamt was clearly the strongest in the final run and eventually won the race in 59:02. Twenty seconds later, Nora Gmür came in second and five seconds behind her, Tjasa Vrtacic came in third.
