In a race in which supporters were treated to exciting finishes, Matthew Hauser and Beth Potter won WTCS Montreal today. In the sprint distance race, the differences at the finish line were small.
Matthew Hauser won the race by a margin of eleven seconds: crossing the finish line after 53:47, Brazilian Manoel Messias quickly followed in second (53:58). Belgian Jelle Geens completed the podium with a time of 54:02, keeping him one second ahead of Tim Hellwig and three seconds ahead of Kristian Blummenfelt. Following Blummenfelt again very close behind were Bence Bicsák and Charles Paquet, among others.
In the women’s race, it was Beth Potter who narrowly secured victory: with her time of 58:10, she remained two seconds ahead of Leonie Periault. American Summer Rappaport finished third in 58:19, leaving a nine-second margin over Jeanne Lehair, who finished fourth. Katie Zaferes was fifth and Taylor Knibb sixth. Georgia Taylor-Brown and Zsanett Bragmayer also followed close behind, but had to settle for seventh and eighth place.
