Only two more races are scheduled before Jan Frodeno will retire at the end of this season. The German – who won everything there was to win and is regarded by almost the entire triathlon community as the “Greatest Of All Time” – is ending his career as a professional athlete.
This weekend, Frodeno will race in Milwaukee at the PTO US Open, followed by the Ironman World Championship in Nice on Sept. 10. There he hopes to claim the IM world title one more time, before he will thus enjoy his retirement.
In the past, Frodeno won every major race there is. For example, he became Olympic Champion in 2008, won the Ironman World Championship in 2015, 2016 and 2019, broke the world record on the Long Distance at Challenge Roth in 2016 (which he only lost to Magnus Ditlev this year, ed.), became Ironman 70.3 world champion in 2015 and 2018 ánd also won pretty much all Challenge Family and Ironman races where he competed. For the past two years, Frodeno struggled with injuries, after which he made his comeback this year.
