A new race for Challenge Family, although the race is actually not that new: after several years of absence, Challenge Forte Village, in southern Sardinia, returns to the calendar. The Middle Distance and Sprint Distance race will take place in the weekend of Oct. 25 and 26.

“We’re delighted to return to beautiful Sardinia and to once again partner with Forte Village Resort,” says Challenge Family CEO Jort Vlam. “Challenge Family events are not just about putting on a world-class race but are also chosen for their overall destination experience for athletes and their families. As one of the most beautiful Mediterranean islands, Sardinia delivers this in bucket loads! In addition, the team at Forte Village share our strong commitment to ‘all about the athlete’ and creating unforgettable memories for everyone involved.”

Challenge Forte Village last took place in 2018, so the race returns after seven years. Athletes will swim one lap of 1.9 kilometers through the crystal-clear waters adjacent to the Forte Village Resort beach, then bike one pretty technical loop of 90 kilometers including a descent of no less than seven kilometers and on roads that have been completely renewed. The closing half marathon takes place over two laps and takes place along the beach and through the city’s historic center, among others.

According to Race Director Andrea Metasti, the race will be spectacular, but so is the area in which the race takes place. “With its mild Mediterranean climate, stunning natural landscapes, exceptional race courses, and warm hospitality, Sardinia is truly a year-round sports paradise. It is also a must-visit destination for those accompanying the athletes: beyond the thrill of competition visitors can immerse themselves in the Island’s wealth of history, rich traditions, vibrant culture, and extraordinary archaeological heritage. We are thrilled to welcome the Challenge Family back to Forte Village and Sardinia for this incredible event and look forward to an unforgettable week of racing and celebration with all the athletes and their families.”
