PTO Follows Challenge Roth’s Lead: RaceRanger Data to Go Public

Challenge Roth set the tone earlier this season by releasing full RaceRanger data post-race, giving fans and athletes unprecedented insight into drafting behavior. Now, the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) is taking the same step, announcing that RaceRanger metrics from its T100 Tour will also be made publicly available.

The move brings a new level of transparency to the sport. In Roth, we saw detailed breakdowns of who drafted, for how long, and even at what times during the race. That kind of clarity leaves little room for speculation and gives both athletes and fans hard data to work with. The PTO says the decision to follow suit was made in consultation with the pros themselves – an important signal that the athletes are willing to have their numbers laid bare.

The organization also pointed to a promising trend: drafting appears to be decreasing. At the recent T100 London, men averaged just 39 seconds of drafting time, while women averaged 28 seconds. Compare that with the multiple minutes logged in races last year, and it’s clear that awareness and enforcement are starting to reshape racing dynamics.
