With just a few weeks to go until Challenge Miami (Mar. 12, 2021), the organization says the bidding process for the popular Pro-Am race will open this Friday, on Feb. 26.
Given the stellar start field recently announced for Challenge Miami, there are some impressive names on the list of possible teammates: Jan Frodeno, Lucy Charles, Lionel Sanders, Anne Haug, Ben Hoffman, Fenella Langridge, Heather Jackson, Eric Lagerstrom, Jodie Stimpson, Laura Siddall, Lesley Smith and Andrew Starykowicz.
For the Pro-Am race – a relatively new concept for Challenge Family, that kicked off at Challenge Daytona 2019 – amateurs team up with the professional triathletes for a Tri-Together Sprint Distance. The pro’s tackle the swim and the age group athletes take care of the bike and run. The race includes 800 m of swimming, 12.4 km of cycling and 3.1 km of running.
From Feb. 26 until Mar. 1 athletes can join the bidding process and try to match with one of the pros. The money raised during the bidding benefits The NASCAR Foundation, a charity that works to improve the lives of children in need. The Pro-Am race will take place on Mar. 13, the day after the elite event.
