From boy with Down syndrome to Ironman. Chris Nikic’s dream came true at last year’s Ironman Florida. Ever since he has been all over the news, was nominated for an “Inspiration of the Year” award, and accepted an invitation for the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii in 2021. ESPN has shared a beautiful short documentary – The Chris Nikic Story – taking us back to his childhood, the challenges he faced, and how difficult it was for Nikic to pick up triathlon, let alone complete a full-distance race.
“When doctors said I couldn’t do anything, the first thing that came out of my mouth: don’t tell me that I’ll fail,” Nikic says in the inspiring documentary.
