Here’s how athletes react to Long Distance debut Ben Kanute

Just a few weeks back, he was a big man at the World Championship Ironman 70.3, where he was the only one who could make things difficult for Kristian Blummenfelt. In the end, he didn’t win, but Ben Kanute managed to get a lot of triathlon enthusiasts from all over the world excited. That is one of the reasons why so many people were looking forward to the American’s debut at his first Long Distance, yesterday.

At Ironman Arizona, Ben Kanute was at the start of his first triathlon over the classic distance and he did more than fine. Only Joe Skipper and Matt Hanson were faster, as Kanute finished third in a time of 7:51:25. In doing so, he left behind men such as Kristian Hogenhaug (2021 world champion), Bart Aernouts and Ruben Zepuntke, among others. After the race, Kanute received a lot of nice reactions from his colleagues:
