This Saturday – tomorrow – Gustav Iden will be one of the biggest names at the Super League Triathlon Arena Games in London. Remarkably, Iden arrived late at registration, which has already earned the Norwegian a five-second time penalty. It wasn’t by own mistake Iden did not arrive on time; his flight was delayed. “I struggle with this format already, so this is not going to help me,” he said.
Iden is focusing entirely on the 204 Paris OIympics this year and next. He recently indicated that if he becomes Olympic Champion, Iden will have achieved all his triathlon goals. Most likely, Iden doesn’t care too much about tomorrow’s time penalty, as the SLT Arena Games in London is just ‘an extra’ for him and not a major peak race. Still, five seconds is quite a lot, considering the extremely short format of the Arena Games races.
