These have been eventful weeks for Gustav Iden. In early October, he won the World Championship Ironman at Kona. Three weeks later, he saw the other side of the medal at the Ironman 70.3 World Champs, where he had to step out of the race a very emotional way. After that big disappointment, now a week and a half ago, he kept complete radio silence on social media for a while, but now he is back and clear: focus on the Olympics, Paris 2024.
Last weekend Gustav Iden raced the WTCS Bermuda and finished ninth. “So fun being back with the boys in the short course world. After a long Ironman campaign is feels amazing to be in the pointy end of things and finish top 10. The road to Paris 2024 is officially a go.”
Earlier, Iden announced he would not return to Kona next year and thus won’t defend his title. His compatriot Kristian Blummenfelt, who finished third at Kona but won the World Championship Ironman 70.3, will also set his sights on the 2024 Olympics, but will also return to Kona next year.
