A major move in the indoor biking landscape: the industry-leading Zwift has acquired the equally popular Rouvy. A press release just issued states that the acquisition is intended to further grow the world of indoor cycling, but that both platforms will remain independent and continue to exist alongside one another.
Zwift and Rouvy have coexisted for years and are the most popular platforms among cyclists and triathletes for indoor and online cycling. On both platforms, users can complete training rides and interval sessions, as well as participate in group rides and races. Zwift utilizes virtual, fictional environments, whereas Rouvy features filmed and digitized real-world courses, allowing users to train on actual Ironman and Challenge Family race routes, among others.
The financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed. However, it has been indicated that both platforms will maintain their own ‘roadmaps’ and continue to offer different subscription models for their users.
