For now, all eyes are on the Paris Olympics – after all, that’s where he wants to defend his title in the Olympic triathlon – but it could just be that Kristian Blummenfelt will make the switch to professional cycling after that.
Rumors goes that Blummenfelt is in the picture with WorldTeam Jayco AlUla, a Dutch cycling website (WielerFlits, ed.) reports. That Blummenfelt will actually make the switch to professional cycling is not an unthinkable scenario. He has won literally everything there is to win in triathlon (the Olympics, the Ironman World Championship and the Ironman 70.3 World Championship) and in addition, Blummenfelt himself has indicated several times that he is interested in being part of the pro peloton. He is also known for his bizarrely high VO2max. In tests, Blummenfelt achieved a VO2max of 103ml/kg/min, the highest VO2max ever measured. By comparison, Chris Froome once reached 88.2ml/kg/min when he was in the best shape ever.
According the same rumors Blummenfelt will combine his life as a professional triathlete with his life as a professional cyclist, just like Cameron Wurf does already.
