Kristian Blummenfelt unlikely to become a pro cyclist

For now, Kristian Blummenfelt’s future is pretty uncertain: will he focus on the Long Distance, will he focus on the Olympics in Los Angeles (2028) in the coming years after all, or will he race within the pro peloton as previously announced. The latter seems highly unlikely as the rumors previously sparked from within his own team have now been debunked again.

Earlier, Blummenfelt’s coach indicated that the Norwegian triathlete would probably make the switch to the pro peloton next year and even had ambitions to win the Tour de France one day. Now his coach told a total different story as he claims that Blummenfelt would focus on the Olympics again. That choice would have been made because Blummenfelt was disappointed with his Paris performance (where he finished 12th at the Olympics) while he did find that the Long Distance/Olympic Distance combination is easier than he expected.

In a way, the statement by Blummenfelt’s coach is remarkable, since Blummenfelt himself stated last week in Samarkand that he finds the Long Distance/Olympic Distance combination a particularly difficult one and, in addition, he also let it be noted that he did not necessarily like an Olympic route towards LA because he has the feeling that the Norwegian federation regularly works against him
