Norway’s Solveig Lovseth just crossed the Ironman 70.3 Venice-Jesolo finish line first, after proving inimitable on the bike and also not giving anyone a chance to get closer during the run. Lovseth’s victory was therefore impressive.

After the swim, Lovseth still had to chase quite a bit, because when Lena Meissner came out of the water first in a time of 23:33 and was then followed by Julie Iemmolo (+0:54) and Luisa Iogna Prat (+0:58), it was some time before Lovseth came out of the water in fifth: her gap was then over two minutes.

On the bike, it was Meissner who managed to increase her lead over the other ladies, but Lovseth began to accelerate even more, rode to second place and also began to gain more time on the leader at that point. A little after halfway through the bike leg, she even managed to connect and actually build a lead right away. When Lovseth came back into T2, Meissner was 2:21 minutes behind her and the gap to the third woman, Maja Stage Nielsen, was even close to five minutes.

During the run, nothing changed as far as the first two positions were concerned: Lovseth was in no danger anywhere, her lead only increased, and in the end she won the race in 3:53:22. Meissner managed to secure her second place in a time of 3:59:42. Stage Nielsen, however, cracked during the run and fell off the podium. The bronze was ultimately for Emilie Morier, who crossed the line after 4:00:04.
